Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a classical treatment used to optimize organ function, balance the nervous system, and stimulate the body’s innate healing capacities. Treatments involve the insertion of sterile hair-fine needles, application of heat to specific points, and manual manipulation of channel pathways along the body.

The efficacy of acupuncture treatment is rooted in diagnostic skill and clinical rigor. Our approach is informed by formal training in constitutional five-element theory and Shen-Hammer pulse diagnosis, and enriched by rigorous and ongoing studies of human development and classical acupuncture theory.

Every aspect of treatment is intentional and thoughtfully considered through the lenses of both Eastern medicine and Western scientific research.

Is this for you?

Classical acupuncture is often transformative if one of the following resonates:

HORMONAL IMBALANCE You struggle with menstrual or digestive difficulties, irregular moods and cravings, fatigue, or insomnia/disturbed sleep patterns.

PREGNANCY You would like to prepare for conception, address fertility issues, or support your body for a healthy pregnancy, birth, and post-partum period.

EMOTIONAL STRESS You wrestle with difficult emotions and seek an approach that supports both the physical and mental aspects of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic symptoms.

BURNOUT You are burnt-out, stressed, tired, achy, and yearn for health and vitality that radiates to all aspects of living.

YOU HAVE EXHAUSTED OTHER OPTIONS You have explored conventional medical approaches that either didn’t work or worked for a short time, you feel there is a deeper component to your condition that nobody has addressed, or you are looking for a natural medicine as an alternative to pharmaceuticals.

Treatments

Each person comes to acupuncture with unique goals and circumstances. Our treatments are customized to address them.

Initial treatments support immediate individual concerns and lay the groundwork for deeper health: nervous system balance, improved digestive function, steady energy, and emotional harmony.

Ongoing treatments build strength and vitality, and serve as preventative medicine for a lifetime.

  • “I was quickly impressed by how thorough my consult was, and how varied and specific the treatments were. Most notably, my digestion improved, I feel more energy and my fall allergies were minimal compared to past seasons. I also learned a lot about Chinese Medicine by discussing things with Angie during my treatments. I definitely recommend her if you're interested in acupuncture and a holistic approach.”

  • “What sets Angie apart as a practitioner is her attention to detail and her dedication to personalized care. Her intake process with detailed questions and wide consideration of symptoms and experiences highlights her commitment to understanding the full picture of what is happening for her patients. This, combined with her vast reservoir of herbal knowledge and passion for herbal “matchmaking” means I know I am getting personalized, dedicated health care.”

  • “I came to acupuncture with a sense of curiosity and an instinct that it might help with my low back pain. In the process, I have discovered ease and at age 45, I can’t believe I have never felt better than this. I sleep well, I don’t get “stressed” even though I’m still working a lot, and I am happy, RELAXED, and pain-free.”

What to Expect

Treatment Duration & Maintenance

Each person and case is unique. Treatment duration varies based on your health history, goals, and level of commitment to the process. This medicine can be used to address acute symptoms and stressors that interfere with daily life, or for a lifetime of preventative care.

Sometimes, symptoms resolve after one or two treatments. Other times, releasing a long-held pattern takes more time and attention. During the course of treatment, people often find that their preferences and habits naturally orient to those that generate health and well-being, and that seemingly unrelated aspects of their lives and health improve.

If you have questions about expected treatment duration or other aspects of care specific to your case, please schedule a free consultation. We would be happy to answer your questions!

Remote Consultations

If you are curious about the classical Chinese medicine perspective, but cannot travel to New York, some cases do benefit from remote consultations and treatment. Schedule a free consultation to learn if this is a good fit for your case.
