Tending the Seed
A reiki and acupuncture workshop for seasonal transition
Wednesday February 1, 2023

The Transition
In Daoist cosmology and Five Element theory, February 4th marks the beginning of transition from winter to spring, a movement away from the darkness, stillness, contemplation of Water element into the creative, dynamic, potentiating force of Wood element.
If Water element is the seed stage of plant growth, Wood element represents the sprouting, a season of excitement and empowerment where the potential and sleepy dreamtime nurtured in winter have a chance to shine in the increasing daylight.
We’re not quite at Spring Equinox, but this is when we begin to prepare for it.
The Invitation
In this 2 hour workshop with acupuncturist Angie Mordecai and reiki master Lisa Barner, we will gather to:
Learn about the role of Water (winter) and Wood (spring) elements in our physical, emotional, and spiritual health through the lens of Chinese medicine,
Explore the significance of this transition point, and health affirming practices for this time of the year,
Experience guided meditation to ground into the present moment,
Receive acupuncture and reiki in a supported, group setting, and
Step into February with more alignment and ease.
You will leave with a goodie bag of surprise treats to support this transition!
About the Facilitators
Angie is a five element acupuncturist, herbalist, and doctor of Chinese medicine. Her work is informed by understandings of naturalist philosophy and the five element system of medicine, which views the body as a microcosm continually informed by macrocosmic influences, i.e. cosmic/seasonal patterns. Her goal is for this workshop to serve as an embodied, experiential introduction to this framework, and delightful transition point for the season ahead.
Lisa is an MS counseling professional, reiki master teacher and intuitive healer, with a background in traditional therapeutic modalities including trauma and bereavement work. As a holistic practitioner she integrates Western + Eastern traditions along with the guidance of Spirit to intuit what best serves clients' total wellbeing. Her goal for this workshop is to facilitate a multisensory experience of nourishment for attendees to feel supported through seasonal transition.
